Had dinner here with some French guests last night. The food was great! We each ordered something different and shared. The atmosphere was perfect, the beer was cold and the service was prompt and efficient. I will return on my next trip for sure!

Service was great and the price wasnt bad. The quality is nothing like a big city like Minneapolis but was suffice. They even accomodated our gluten free children so that is always a plus!

Blew a tire so we had some time to kill while our tire got fixed.. This place was right next to the tire shop so we thought might as well cut our loses and grab some lunch! I will say this could have been a 5 star place... the food was great, the service was great, the bathrooms were clean, but man there was a terrible smell that hit us right when we walked through the door! OH MY it was awful, I can't even really describe it! Lucky for us it was a beautiful day and they had a great patio to sit on and enjoy our lunch! I hope for Las Palmas (which again would have been 5 stars) can get that smell figured out.

Great food! I got a ( generous ) side of rice with tortillas and guac. I usually don't like guacamole served at restaurants, but this tasted homemade. Fast and friendly service.

The service can be a little slow sometimes but I can say that it's excellent when they come around and it's just because they are busy. They knew who I was and what I drank and ordered after only going there once. So I can say there are very welcoming once they've seen you around. Food is always good, everything I have ordered. Best Mexican restaurant I've experienced in Clear Lake and Mason City. Usually pretty happening to for happy hour, cool environment.

We were say and helped right away. The chips and salsa were good. The food was pretty good too. It wasn't to die for, but it was pretty good. It took a while to get the check after we finished eating because the waiter was carrying on socializing with some friends. Still a pretty good dining experience.

Okay....what I call Orgasmic!!! Holy Moly Good! I can't remember the name of the dish, but it was 2 cheese enchiladas with a cream sauce and grilled shrimp. Nothing like I've ever tasted and we couldn't get enough! Their alcoholic drink menu is off the charts too...anything you desire they pretty much have it. Prices are great! Pitcher of beer super cheap and perfect with Mexican food. Highly recommend! Great atmosphere and service.

Amazing food and even better service. This is definitely the ONLY place in Mason City worth trying out if you're in the mood for Mexican food. Their prices are unbeatable and their queso dip is awesome. They always have really good deals and their margaritas are to die for. Definitely worth the visit, especially in the summer when their patio is open!

Because I travel for work, a quality hangout with good food in a strange town is a real find. By the second time I came here, I was on first-name basis with the server, and I had come to appreciate some real midwest hospitality within the context of "a mexican restaurant." I've been back about five times at this point. The portions are huge, and the drinks are decent, though they could use an other couple counts of booze. I recommend sitting in the bar section and getting the $1.99 margaritas on Thursdays, with a plate of enchiladas rancheras - cheesy enchiladas buried in pulled pork and guacamole. The only reason I didn't mark five stars is that they raised their prices since I've been here. I understand the whole cost of food dealio, and I'm not here to complain, I simply liked it a touch more when the lunch was $7.49 or whatever not $8.99. But don't let that be your hangup, stop in for sure.

As you can prob. tell, any trip to IA requires one leaves the beaten path. In this case, my friends and me decided it was time for food, and nothing better than checking out Mason CIty too. It's a small place, but it offers lots of options for the locals, including Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant. The food was great, the drinks were yummy, the staff was welcoming, and the prices were very reasonable. In summary, the perfect spot to stop at for dinner while on the road. :)

Second best chips/salsa combo in town. They get bonus points though cause they have really good hot sauce on each table. The veggie quesadilla is the best dish in town. If I go more than a week without Las Palmas I get pretty sad.

The food here was disappointing. The restaurant was highly recommended by a local who said that they had lived in the Southwest, but my wife and I were not impressed. I am from the Southwest and am more critical of my Mexican food, but my wife is a Midwesterner and she agreed with me on this one. We ordered the parrillada plate that came with grilled beef, chicken, shrimp and pork and we also ordered the queso fundido. We both thought that the meat was bland, the cheese sauce tasted like velveeta, the chorizo tasted like soft, greasy nothing and the tortillas tasted like they were fresh from the pre-packaged food in the grocery aisle. I will say that the service was great, the waitstaff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The menu options were very authentic and we might have just chosen poorly with our dinner selection.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
